Safe-guarding

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute."
Proverbs 31:8

Caring for the voiceless and the vulnerable is right at the heart of the message of the bible. In a broken world full of challenges and difficulties, looking after and caring for the safety of others is not an annoying tick box exercise, it is essential to our mission and vision as a church family. At Emmanuel, doing safeguarding well matters so that we can build a loving and healthy church family, where everyone feels welcome whatever their previous experience of church.

At Emmanuel we recognise the need to provide a safe and caring environment for children, young people and adults at risk. We acknowledge that children, young people and adults at risk can be the victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and neglect. We all have a part to play in this, by complying with our policies and all of us choosing to keep our eyes open to notice where safeguarding issues might be happening.

CHILDREN

We believe church is family, and our children play a key part in that. We have a kids groups for all pre-school and primary aged children. The groups normally goes out after the first two worship songs, we encourage families with children to enjoy singing the first few songs together before the kids go out. In the kids group we aim to have lots of fun learning about Jesus, praying for each other and growing in our heart for others.

We are committed to the nurturing and safeguarding of our children, young people and adults when they are vulnerable. Children aged 0-11 need to be registered by a parent or guardian and collected from their group at the end of the service, all of our youth and children's workers are required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check and are given relevant safeguarding training.
